When it Began
His eyes focused on sights unseen
Arms across his knees
No verbiage crossed his shaking lips
Falls limp into my chest
I hold my boy, my feet are swift
Fear driving every step
A jerk, my God please tell me NO!
It's all so clear to me now
His neck is twisted to one side
Left arm crossed to the right
So stiff he lays out on the ground
Still his body jumps and shakes
Calming now, he's limp again
Flashing lights all 'round me now
A crowd is drawing near
Hands pull me back away from him
Paramedics moving in
He's sitting up, but still not here
No connection in his eyes
On the stretcher, he's whisked away
I'm left with just my fear
A year has passed, we have survived
Through many a fearful day
The doctors in whose care we trust
Keep most of the seizures away.
